I am a former publishing executive who is trying to figure out how to be an unemployed empty-nester.  For the first time since I was fourteen, I did not file a tax return in 2019. I have taken up various forms of exercise, sworn off heels, and read an embarrassing number of novels.  I can finally indulge my passion for estate sales just as I have my house fully furnished and pretty much decorated.

Last year, while traveling for the first time to England, I wrote a daily post on Facebook highlighting the events of each day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 It proved to be popular with friends and family, so I did the same thing recapping our adventures in Colorado last summer and a mother\/daughter trip to Disneyworld.  I remembered that I actually love to write, and more importantly, love for my writing to be read.

When I decided to write a blog, I asked my daughter what I should call it.  \u201cSomething about being awkward,\u201d she said. Ouch. But she explained that when I wrote about how things went wrong and the funny way I managed them, that made sense.  So, Tripping the Awkward Fantastic <\/strong><\/em>was born.

After being various versions of the working mom executive, it is a challenge to have to redefine myself<\/g> as someone who is no longer fully necessary as a mom and not at all necessary as an executive.  What do you do when you actually have time to do what you want? I am figuring that out. This is what happens as I do.
