Leaving on a Jet Plane

May 14, 2018

Waiting in the “restricted section.” We just thought we were the only ones there.
Evans after we swapped seats.

We are off to tour London and then do a great sweep around England.  We will visit Canterbury, Bath, the Cotswolds, Oxford, York, and the Lake District before returning to London.  We booked everything through Audley tours so we basically just wake up, show up, and will be driven, educated, entertained and hopefully fed.

It is my first trip to England and I am beside myself with excitement.

I feel like we are on a spaceship. It is so cool.

We flew the new British Airways direct flight from Nashville to London.   It was our first time flying British Air and it was amazing.  We were seated or rather placed in business class.  I say placed because each person has their own “place” complete with walls, screens, drawers, and reclining seats and fold-up ottomans to make a bed.

Because the flight is so new to Nashville, the airline does not have the necessary licenses to serve alcohol while still on the ground.  The very chic flight crew has apologized that they can’t serve champagne until we are in the air. That is probably a good thing. Evans was supposed to have the center seat. We swapped. I fit a bit better.  We hope to sleep a bit so we can enjoy our day in London.  The tour starts as soon as we leave the airport.
